Congratulations on your first step to becoming a citizen serving your community!
So you want to join Salt Lake Senior Squadron, what’s next?

If you are prior military service, provide a copy of your DD214 (remove SSAN and birthdate)

Bring a check, personal or cashier’s for $61 made out to: “Civil Air Patrol”

Complete your application (CAP Form 12)

Meet with the Commander, or designated representative to confirm the Senior Squadron is your best fit and complete the second page of your application along with a witness to your oath of membership

Once you have completed the above and are ready to join, submit fingerprints, DD214 (if applicable), check, and signed application for mailing to CAP HQs—bring to a meeting and we’ll mail it for you

About a week after mailing in your application, look for an email from “CAP eServices Notification System” with your CAP ID and instructions to set up your account

Let us know when you’re approved and we’ll help you get started on your initial orientation training for your chosen path

You'll need a uniform. Recommended easy option to get you started is to order a CAP Polo Shirt at Vanguard Uniforms paired with grey pants (any) and you're all set. Additional uniform combinations and options will be presented later in your training after you join.

Think about what you want from Civil Air Patrol? It’s ok to be a little selfish. We’re all volunteers so pick something that motivates you to serve.
Now think about what special talent or skill you bring that can benefit our mission. It’s ok if you don’t feel you have the right stuff initially. That’s one of the benefits of being part of Civil Air Patrol, you supply the desire to learn, we’ll provide the training.
If you’re not sure, we can help you decide on the best fit. And it’s ok to change your mind along the way—this is just the beginning.
